Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is in the Nu-Zymes™ Formula?
A. Nu-Zymes™ includes only the highest quality, plant-based ingredients in its formulation. It provides a unique blend of digestive enzymes in one capsule, and all the enzymes are derived from plants and fungi. Nu-Zymes™ contains no corn, wheat, dairy, gluten, soy, sugar, salicylates or casein and is natural and safe.
Amylase (5,000 DU): digests carbohydrates, sugars and starches
Protease (12,000 HUT): breaks down proteins in the body
Lactase (2,000 ALU): digests the milk sugar lactose
Lipase (100 FCCLU): digests fats
Cellulase (100 CU): breaks down some types of fiber
Lactobacillus acidophilus (200 mil c.f.u.): is a "friendly" bacterium
CereCalase™ (200 MU): is a special blend of 3 enzymes phytase, hemicellulase and beta-glucanase which to help with absorption
Other ingredients: Rice bran, microcrystalline, cellulose, gelatin and water.

Q. How do I use Nu-Zymes™ properly?
A. Nu-Zymes™ should be taken just before or during meals, especially every cooked meal, for help with stomach related symptoms like gas, heartburn, acid reflux, water retention, bloating, fatigue, etc. Depending on your body weight and the size of your meal, you should take 2-6 capsules. For example:A person weighing 150 pounds who has a hamburger, French fries and a soft drink should take 2-3 capsules.
A person weighing 250 pounds who eats a steak, baked potato, vegetables and a soft drink should take 3-5 capsules.
Larger, more complex meals, such as a turkey dinner with all of the fixings, may require more Nu-Zymes™ capsules. A smaller, simpler meal, like oatmeal, which contains predominantly fiber and starch, may require fewer capsules because it has fewer elements to break down.

Q. How are the enzymes regulated?
A. The Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) regulates enzymes. The FCC is published by the National Academy Press, which is funded by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council. The FCC establishes the standards for food and food substances used in food processing. It is the only national standard for the evaluation of fungal enzymes. Not all enzyme manufacturers use FCC units and are not required to do so by law. The enzymes used in Nu-Zymes™ are manufactured in an FDA and FCC approved facility. Nu-Zymes™ currently does not require FDA approval, as it is a natural, non-prescription, nutritional supplement.

Q. What can I expect to feel after taking Nu-Zymes™?
A. If you are suffering from stomach discomfort like stomach upset, gas, heartburn, bloating, cramping, fatigue after eating or cravings, when you add Nu-Zymes™ to your diet, you may notice diminished symptoms, within just a few meals. For other conditions, it may take longer to notice any changes. Many people notice results within 2-3 weeks of taking Nu-Zymes™ with each meal. Best results may be achieved if Nu-Zymes™ is taken consistently and with every meal.
If you experience gas after taking Nu-Zymes™, you may not be taking enough with each meal. Try increasing capsules by 1-2 per meal, which should help with gas discomfort.

Q. How will taking enzymes affect my digestive system?
A. The presence of food in the stomach will always trigger production of enzymes, whether supplemental enzymes are used or not. Supplemental enzymes make it easier for the body to function but do not affect the body's ability to function naturally.

Q. Are there side effects with Nu-Zymes™?
A. When taken as directed there are no known side effects with Nu-Zymes™.

Q. Can I take Nu-Zymes™ while I am on medication?
A. Nu-Zymes™ is a high quality supplement with no added chemicals or fillers. It has not been shown to interact with any medication. Many customers are on strong medications for treatment of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hyperactivity, hormone balancing, arthritis and more; many report good results with Nu-Zymes™.

Q. How does Nu-Zymes™ help with lactose digestion?
A. The inability to digest lactose may cause malabsorption and physical discomfort, such as cramping, bloating, gas and diarrhea. Lactase is the enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose. Clinical studies have shown that people who supplement with the enzyme lactase decrease their symptoms of lactose intolerance associated with eating dairy foods. Many people have tried to take lactase supplements only to have poor results. Those people then return to eliminating all dairy products from their diets, which may affect their risks for osteoporosis. A combination of lactase, protease and lipase may be the best solution for these people, as these enzymes address the individual conditions associated with lactose intolerance.

Q. How does Nu-Zymes™ help with excess fat?
A. Many people have been significantly reducing their fat intake. However, this vital nutrient is necessary for providing energy, building cell membranes and protecting vital organs and nerve cells. Fat binding supplements may inhibit the intake of fat-soluble vitamins such as A, E, D and K. By breaking down fat more effectively, it is possible to benefit from its nutritional value. The enzyme lipase helps digest the triglycerides present in fats, which releases fatty acids and glycerol. Supplementing with a digestive enzyme that includes lipase may support how your body processes and uses fat.

Q. What if I have problems swallowing pills?
A. Nu-Zymes™ capsules can be opened and their contents added to food or water. They should not be mixed with any food or liquid that is boiling or steaming, because the enzymes are neutralized at 118 degrees. Allow food to cool a little before adding Nu-Zymes™.

Q. I want to give Nu-Zymes™ to my kids. Is there a recommended age limit?
A. Nu-Zymes™ can be safely given to children. If they have trouble swallowing pills, open the capsules and add the contents to food or a beverage.
